An Imperial Stout

This is our version of Black is Beautiful, a stout conceived by Weathered Souls Brewing to raise awareness and money for the injustices people of color face daily. We’re very excited about this beer and to donate 100% of the proceeds to the Equal Justice Initiative which works to end mass incarceration, excessive punishment, and racial inequality, including initiatives to reform policing in America. We became familiar with EJI when our Founder/CEO Brian Purcell’s wife (who is an actress) landed an acting role in the recent movie Just Mercy, which tells the story of EJI and its founder Bryan Stevenson’s history-making effort for justice.

Black is Beautiful is a 9.5% imperial stout brewed with Mexican vanilla beans. The beer opens with aromas of freshly ground coffee, chocolate, and vanilla with some earthy notes leading to a fluffy marshmallow mouthfeel and flavors of dark chocolate, roasted coffee, and finishing with a slight hoppy bite from New Zealand-grown Cascade hops.
