This Friday marks the return of Departed Spirit at The Parlour, our brewery tasting room. Over a year of aging in 8 year old Heaven Hill barrels has again left an enduring mark on Theophan the Recluse, infusing the roasted chocolate character already present in this imperial stout with notes of wood, bourbon and vanilla. With our strain of Belgian yeast providing a backdrop of flavor and character unique to most barrel aged stouts, you could say this delicious beer is a “departure” from the norm. Departed Spirit will continue to pour in our tasting room over the coming weeks and be available in market in bottles and on draft next week.
Sour Asylum #5 | Pometheus
Sour Asylum #5, a.k.a. Pometheus, releases tonight in The Parlour. Our Sour Asylum series of lacto-fermented sours releasing monthly has become a hit in the market and #5 will not disappoint. Pometheus is brewed with pilsner and wheat malt and matured on pomegranate. Known to ancient traders as the "fruit of paradise", the sacred pomegranate tartness and touch of sweetness meld beautifully with the existing tartness in this lacto-sour. Don't miss out on the irresistible flavors of Pometheus. This draft only release hits the market next week and will be pouring at the brewery for the next few weeks, if it lasts that long.

About Royal Johnson:
Georgia music artists Royal Johnson are pushing into 2016 with a head full of steam. The infectious energy of their live shows is creating ripples and bringing together diverse ponds of fans representing all walks of life in middle Georgia. Whether the sound is southern soul or countrified funk-rock, we may never know, but Royal Johnson’s live show and diverse list of covers is like seeing a mashup between the likes of Marshall Tucker Band and Sly Stone.
The end of 2015 saw RJ sell out of the first pressing of their debut album, Belly Full, after a release party with former James Brown and Percy Sledge guitarist Robert Lee Coleman as part of GABBA Festival in late September. The eclectic group puts forth a mixed bag of songs with Belly Full, all shaded with blue, but touching everything from funk, folk and soul to country blues and rock and roll.
Royal Johnson is a completely independent band, self-recording and producing all of their music, and handling their own management duties. They present a multi-cultural, honest blend of each member’s diverse stylings.
Royal Johnson exploded into the Macon music scene early 2015 with an opening slot for Capricorn recording artists Stillwater at The Crazy Bull that drew over 1500 people. Other 2015 highlights include shows in Macon at The Big House Allman Brothers Band Museum and iconic Grant’s Lounge, as well as Atlanta shows at Three Taverns Brewery and the infamous Clermont Lounge with biker kings JB Walker and the Cheap Whiskey Band. They were also able to collaborate on multiple occasions with Allman Brothers Band tour mystic and iconic rock photographer Kirk West (see Gallery West in Macon) and with breakthrough photographer Michael Weintrob (see his Instrumenthead project)

All Hail The Return of Heavy Bell
We are excited to announce the anticipated 2016 release of Heavy Bell, our bourbon barrel aged quadrupel. Patience has been rewarded after aging Quasimodo for 14 months in eight-year-old bourbon barrels, resulting in an ale of incredible richness and complexity. Time and carefully chosen eight year old Heaven Hill bourbon barrels has created a new beer imbued with the rich bourbon character of the wood. Not for the faint of heart, every savory drop of Heavy Bell will leave your senses ringing, and your head the next morning if not careful.
Some of you may notice the “s” has been dropped from the 2014 release of Heavy Bells. We did this to maintain a collegial relationship with our fellow brewer in Michigan, who was afraid of confusion with their brewery.
Please join us this Friday and Saturday, Jan 29th and 30th for our official brewery BOTTLE RELEASE, where in addition to the standard $12 brewery tour and tasting, that includes the first pouring of 2016 Heavy Bell, we will be offering an optional Bottle Release Tour that includes a guided tour of our bourbon barrel room, a special tasting of the vintage 2014 Heavy Bells, and a bottle to go of the 2016 Heavy Bell. The special Release Tour can be purchased for an additional $15, with a maximum of 2 special release tours per person. With a limited run of 1700 bottles, this release will be your most certain opportunity to secure bottles of 2016 Heavy Bell.
We hope to see you at the brewery this weekend!

Theophan The Recluse 2.0 | 2016 Brewery Bottle Release Tour
We are excited to announce the release of Theophan the Recluse 2.0. We have adjusted the recipe for the 2016 release of Theophan by dialing down the lighter adjunct sugars and dialing up the heavier and darker malt sugars for a more viscous version of our Belgian-style Russian Imperial Stout. In other words, we dialed down the Belgian character and dialed up the Russian Imperial character. The familiar intensely dark flavors are present as always, but the dry, or as some say, thinner, finish has been replaced with a rounder and more full-bodied mouthfeel. This newer version takes Theophan to the next level of malty goodness.
Join us this Friday and Saturday, Jan 8th & 9th, where in addition to the standard $12 brewery tour and tasting, that will include a tasting of Theophan 2.0, we will be offering an optional Release Tour that includes a guided tour of our bourbon barrel room, a commemorative 11oz. teardrop goblet and a 750ml bottle-to-go of the 2016 Theophan. The special Release Tour can be purchased for an additional $10 each. Look for Theophan 2.0 in the market on draft and on shelf the week of 1/11.
Cheers and Happy New Year!
Introducing Raspberry Sour Asylum
Raspberry Sour Asylum, Rhapsody in Red, is a fruit variation on Sour Asylum #2, the second in our series of lacto-fermented sour ales. Matured on fresh raspberry puree and balanced by a pleasing acidity from the lactobacillus strain added to the kettle, this tart and fruit forward sour is one of our brewers' favorites.
Join us in The Parlour on New Year’s Eve for the release of Raspberry Sour Asylum, Raspsody In Red. This very limited release sour will go on tap NYE and continue to be available throughout January at our brewery tasting room. Only a few kegs were released to market and will show up randomly over the next few weeks, but your best and surest way to try this newest in our series of sours is at our brewery tasting room, The Parlour.
